FAQ

Got Questions?

A decision this important naturally comes with many questions. Fortunately, we have answers—lots of them. If you have any questions you don’t see addressed here (and we bet you do), just let us know. We’ll find the answer for you, and we might even add it to this page to help inform future visitors.

Although it might sound a bit cliché, there is no one right or wrong time to move. However, our general guidance is to move sooner rather than later. That way, you’ll have plenty of time to stay as active as you please and experience the fullest life La Vida Llena has to offer. Plus, it’s a lot harder to make a decision in a time of stress when you’re facing a health crisis. Moving sooner means giving you and your loved ones the priceless gift of peace of mind.

We do our best to be as transparent as possible about the price of living here. Entrance Fees provide structure to support the financial model of a Life Care community, which provides lifetime care regardless of changes in a resident’s health. Your Entrance Fee is based on the features and size of the apartment home you choose and reflects area housing costs.

Your Entrance Fee is determined by the size and style of the apartment or Casita you choose (you pay more for bigger, fancier residences and less for our smaller, more modest abodes).

Glad you asked! The Monthly Fee covers way more than we have time to go over here, but a few of the highlights include: all utilities including basic cable television, telephone, indoor and outdoor maintenance, groundskeeping, biweekly housekeeping, meal credits in all our on-campus dining venues, and scheduled transportation for shopping or medical appointments. To get all of the details, visit the Pricing page.

Goodness, no! One of the most important parts of life here is living fully and spending your time exactly how you want, however that looks for you. Residents are encouraged to attend any community activities and events across campus. There’s plenty of places where you can enjoy your favorite activities or try your hand at something new, from woodworking to group workouts. And we’re all about making the most of living in downtown Albuquerque. Our residents plan plenty of excursions to experience the variety of art, culture, and cuisine the city has to offer.

Short answer: It’s a way to guarantee complete peace of mind for as long as you live here. Longer answer: It’s a type of contract that guarantees you lifetime access to a variety of medical care and personal services, with the only increase in cost being that your Monthly Fee will adjust to a rate equal to the then current Aztec Apartment, plus the cost of two additional meals. It provides the peace of mind that you’ll never have to make a move off campus to receive higher levels of care. It also provides the security that you’ll never have to go into debt to get the exact kind of care you need.

A Life Plan Community (also known as a Continuing Care Retirement Community or CCRC) provides the convenience of inclusive services and amenities, as well as priority access to care options should the need for them ever arise.

To become an independent living resident of La Vida Llena, you or your spouse must be 62 or older, be able to live independently with reasonable accommodations, and demonstrate the financial ability to meet the terms of the residency agreement. There is no maximum age limit, provided these criteria are met.

You both won’t need to move from your home at La Vida Llena. Even if one of you remains in your Independent Living home, the other can receive care from experienced staff by moving to one of our Assisted Living, Skilled Nursing or Memory Care apartments, all on the same campus.
